Introduction To A Disney Life, Week 1

A Little Bit About Me:

-Major: Bio Pre-PA
-Minor: Studio Art
-I am a junior
-I studied abroad last summer in Italy
-I Have the most wonderful boyfriend in the world. We have been dating for almost 8 years! We started dating at the end of 7th grade.(Yes we did win cutest couple in high school.
(This was 2012 when we first started dating.)
(This is not a wedding photo it was our 6 year anniversary)

-I am on my third round of listening to Harry Potter in less than a year
-All I listen to is Disney music
-I am in love with musicals! (Les Miserable, Little Shop of Horrors, Annie are some of my favorites)
-Fun Fact: I saw the movie Annie (1982 version) so many times as a child that I thought that they were my memories and would scream in public places "I WANT MY REAL FAMILY!"
-One of my biggest dreams is to have kids and give them the most magical childhoods possible: I really want to take my kids to Disney World as much as possible in costumes that I will make them. In the hopes to make them feel special.
-I don't have a dog yet... but I know that someday I would like to have a cockadoodle puppy named Sandy to play off of me thinking I was Annie as a child.
-As you can probably guess what I said about my future kids, My favorite place is Disney World. I truly is the happiest place on earth to me.
-I greatly relate to Rapunzel because I have an overprotective mom and I love pretty much all hobbies.

Here is some of my art:

This is my version of a Norman Rockwell Painting. I painted this right before freshmen year of high school. It is an acrylic painting.
I made this water color junior year of high school.

I also made this one junior year of high school

I made this last year. It was inspired by my evolution class that I was in.

I also made this one last year and it is based off of the films Get Out and Us.

This one I also made last year.

I mage this my senior year of high school. It was my first ceramics class and it was a blast! I am taking a figurative sculptor class this semester.

This is what I am currently working on. It is an acrylic painting. The dimensions are 30x40. This is the largest painting I have ever attempted.

  FOOD!!

When I studied abroad in Italy this summer we were taught how to make pasta. It is so easy and it only takes flour, egg, olive oil, and salt.

I love to cook and bake. I make almost every meal for my boyfriend and I. I started to be zero waste so that has led me to make most of my meals. I make my own pasta so I don't have to buy pasta in packaging. As well I limit my veggie choices to those that don't have plastic.

  1. What a great combination of science and art with your major-minor there, Brittany! Wonderful! Your artwork is so cool (I absolutely love the Get-Out-and-Us one!), and seeing that painting-in-process like that is fascinating. I color in coloring books to relax, but I've never created art that is really my own.
Maybe this class will give you some ideas too! The visual arts of India, both painting and sculpture, are amazing, so you could do a project around that, where each of your stories is inspired by some work of art from India that really speaks to you! Wikipedia is a great resource that way because in so many of the articles about the Indian gods and goddesses, heroines and heroes, you can find beautiful artwork too. I hope you will enjoy that whole visual dimension of the class! :-)

  2. Hi Brittany! Your artwork looks amazing! The one you're currently working on looks great so far! I used to adore the movie Annie, too. Just the other day my friends and I started randomly singing "Its a Hard Knock Life". I don't know why, but that song always gets stuck in my head. I love Disney, I'm going to Disney World soon with my niece and nephew and I'm so excited to see them experience the happiest place on Earth.

  3. Hi, Brittany. The pictures of your homemade meals look AMAZING! I had to teach myself how to cook when I moved out on my own for the first time and I just recently got into a little bit of pasta making myself! I really like your unique style of painting and I think its awesome that you are able to balance being a scholar and creating art!

  4. Hi Brittany!
I love your art! You really have a gift. Like a very special gift because I could never create anything like that. You remind me of one of my sorority sisters named CHloe. SHe loves DIsney a lot and wants to be an Imagineer. An Imagineer is the engineer that designs the rides at Disney World. Did you know if the castle at Disney World was made one foot higher, they would have to pick a light on it for airplanes? Just a fun disney fact from my friend! You should post a tip about how to make pasta!!
Can't wait to learn more about you!

  5. Hey Brittany, nice to meet you! I actually also have a younger sister named Brittany. Did you always get called Britney Spears while growing up becuase my sister did and she hated it haha! On another note, your art is SO AMAZING!!! In high school I took 3 years of ceramics and growing up, I've always been interested in art but your artwork is a whole other level! Please post more pictures in the future I would LOVE to see more.

  6. After reading your poetry version of Dasharatha's Karma, I just had to see who was behind it. Your art is amazing and the Disney picture you're currently working on looks like it'll turn out fantastic. As a kid, I was lucky enough to go to Disney not once, not twice, but THREE times and I have nothing but great memories from there. I look forward to the day I can take my kids there and see how much it's changed and hope it brings them those same great memories. I'm excited to read more of your stories in the future!

  7. Hi Brittany,
I am also pre-PA, but I am on the Health and Exercise Science track. Your art is so cool! I wish I was artistic like that! I love your piece about Get Out and Us. I love those movies and just thrillers in general. Your pictures of food look amazing and they're making me hungry! It's so cool that you were able to go abroad and learn skills like that. When I was in 7th grade, I had my birthday party at this cooking place and we learned how to make pasta!! I hope you have a great semester, and I look forward to reading some of your work!

  8. Hello Brittany,
Your art is very impressive. I liked the Norman Rockwell one specifically; my mom was a big fan of his! I've never cooked pasta from scratch before, but I've always wanted to try. Also, you and your boyfriend seem very cute. That's also cool that you try to be conscious of your plastic use when it comes to cooking. I look forward to visiting your blog again in the future!

  9. Hey Brittany! I had a bit of a chuckle when I imagined your family being in public with you screaming “I WANT MY REAL FAMILY”. That’s an awesome story. I do wonder which Disney movie is your favorite? You mentioned you relate most to Rapunzel so my thoughts reside there. You’re a phenomenal artist and I can guarantee you’ve heard that many times. I know it takes quite some time to do some of the works I see here. I’m interested if you have some sort of gallery to peek at. I also cook a lot, so here I can relate with you! There’s something so special about piecing together foods into something delicious and it looks like you have some repertoire about you. Thanks for sharing!

  10. Hi Brittany!
First of all...you and your boyfriend are super cute. You talked a lot about your passion for kids and Disney, and I'm the same way! My SO and I definitely want to have quite a few kids and bring them to Disney constantly, to (and I loved the way you phrased this) make them feel special. If you're into this kinda thing, there's a brewery called Black Mesa that has trivia nights, and the next night of Disney trivia is coming up on March 10th. Studying abroad in Italy must have been so fun! My family's Italian so we also hand make our pasta (not as hard as people think, right?) Also, have you considered doing your own illustrations for your storybook or portfolio...because that would be super cool. Good luck this semester!

  11. Hi Brittany! I'm a Pre-PA major too! I'm graduating in the spring, but I'm taking a year off to work before I apply to PA school! I wish you luck on your Pre-PA journey too! It's super cute that you and your boyfriend have been together since 7th grade. It warms my heart and I wish you guys many more wonderful years together! I'm a big musical fan too! I was obsessed with Hamilton my senior year of high school, but now I'm loving Hadestown.

  12. Hi Brittany! It is great to meet you. Your major and minor are so different! I love that you are a studio art minor, how awesome and creative! I bet those classes are fun and a nice break from all of the science. WOW! Your art is amazing! I love the "Us" piece, and really all of your art, you are so talented! You and your boyfriend are adorable, I love the side by side of you all when you first got together vs now! How cute! That is awesome that you love to cook and try to be as zero waste as possible. You are making such a difference! I'd love to try to be more like that. Good luck with everything this semester, I can't wait to check out the rest of your page!

  13. By the sound of it, you seem like you are truly living a fairy tale life! I love it. I am definitely familiar with the musical, Annie; my senior year in high school, our drama/theater department put together a musical of Annie and I really enjoyed watching my classmates perform and showcase their amazing talents. Speaking of talent, you have so much of it! I have so much respect for talented artists like you and only wish that I was born with a passion for creating art like yours.

  14. Howdy again Brittany, first off, that food looks dope – I’ve just started making my own noodles for Ramen and Korean Banchans that require Udon and it’s a blast! It’s cool you’re minimizing waste as you are, that’s a good pursuit to have. Also, wild artwork, that’s super cool – especially the watercolor from your junior year – the framing of that piece is really interesting. All the best, Ben

  16. Hey Brittany!
Congrats on dating your boyfriend so long that is a great accomplishment and a testament to the love you guys have. My girlfriend is also a huge Disney fan so when she gets to pick the movie for movie night I know exactly what we are watching lol. You are very talented with your art and if you had not told me it was you creating it then I would have thought it was some famous artist. I hope the rest of the semester goes by well in this weird time.

  17. Hello Brittany,

First off, I'm so happy to see that you and your boyfriend have been dating for so long! That truly shows the dedication that you guys have for each other. Your artworks are also so great! You're a very talented artist and it clearly shows in your work. Bio Pre-PA major with a studio arts minor is a very unique combination. How are you able to find the time to do all these works of art in-between your schoolwork? Anyways, it was nice reading about you and good luck with the rest of the semester!

  18. Hello Brittany,
That is pretty awesome how long you have been with your boyfriend. My fiancee and I have been together for 3 years and cant wait for forever. I hope your journey is everything you wish for it to be. It is funny to read that you would scream that you wanted your real family when you were younger. Your art work is really great. Thank you for sharing so much about yourself. I hope you have a successful year!

  19. Hi Brittany! It was nice to see how happy you and your boyfriend are! That's a really cool picture you guys have of when you first started dating. I was glad to hear your are a Harry Potter fan! In middle school I would almost exclusively read those books, just cycling through the series. I have never tried the audio books though--that's something I would like to try at some point. Your painting is amazing! I wish I had some of your art abilities! Best of luck as you move on to PA school, I can't wait to read more of your stories!

Week 7 Story: Your Worst Fear

Week 7 Story: Your Worst Fear Meme Authors Note: Source .   Indian Myth and Legend   by Donald A. Mackenzie (1913). I really liked the description of the monster in the tale, and it made me want to write a rhyme describing a monster in detail. I hope you enjoy!! How can one capture the horror? For this description is no snorer. I speak of a beast Who enjoys to feast. His hunger is only satisfied by the juicy flesh of many a human being. When mortal souls look upon him you know they are peeing. To give you an idea of his features that are so chilling. With simply a glance they could sure be killing. He is truly grim to behold. On him grows plenty of mold. Gazing into his blood red piercing eyes Could result in one’s demise. His skin was grey as ash, But he’s a messy eater so there is a red splash. With a mouth like a chasm, He uses his powerful jaws with enthusiasm. This mouth reeked of decay. This is from his rotting prey
